Lifted and Creased Shingle Repair in Des Plaines, IL

Lifted and Creased Shingle Repair in Des Plaines, IL

Shingles that flap in the wind leave a mark. Look along the roof from the street and you may see a faint horizontal line across a tab: that is a crease, and it means the shingle bent back far enough to break its fiberglass mat. A creased shingle will usually tear off in the next good storm.

Des Plaines, IL Shingle Roof Repair works with shingle roof repair crews in Des Plaines, IL who handle lifted and creased shingles before they turn into missing ones. The fix depends on what the roofer finds.

• Lifted but not creased: the tab is cleaned under the edge and resealed with dabs of asphalt roofing cement, then weighted until it bonds.
• Creased: the shingle is replaced. Gluing a creased tab down hides the break but does not close it, and water will wick through the crack.
• Lifting across a whole slope: this often points to a sealant strip that never activated, or nails driven too high. The crew will check nail placement on a few shingles to see which.

Asphalt shingle roofing depends on each course being sealed to the one below. Once that bond goes, wind gets leverage.

Call (844) 238-0976 and Des Plaines, IL Shingle Roof Repair will set you up with a crew in Des Plaines, IL to look at those lifted tabs.
